Putikon Hovi Estate invites!

Vacation in “land of lakes” in Finland

Discover a land of pristine nature in Europe – the lake region of South Savo in Finland, where the Putiko Estate (Putikon Hovi) is located. Here you will find yourself amid blue lakes and magnificent Karelian forests, in the welcoming and comfortable atmosphere of a well-preserved 18th century manor house. The Estate occupies an area of 12.5 hectares and offers 9 apartments situated in trafitional wooden buildings, which are renovated and designed in finnish retro style. All apartmentsare equipped with a fully functional mini kitchen and own toilet and shower.

Our guests can enjoy boating, fishing, biking or horse riding around the local area, or just walking in the forest, picking mushrooms and berries. There are also facilities available for those wishing to master Nordic walking, to play badminton or table tennis, to trampoline, to barbeque, to play guitar and sing around a campfire. Or you may simply meditate while contemplating the waterfall and rotating mill wheal, or resting in retro-apartments. It is a proper place to relax.

Of course, you can also experience a famous Finnish steam bath or old «savu sauna» (smoke bath). If you like extreme challenges you may want to climb on top of a big hundred-year old spruce and feast your eyes on the amazing landscapes many miles around.
If you wish you can go back in time – Putikon Hovi has an interesting ethnographic collection of tools and other objects of the 19th-early 20th century. There is even a collection of retro Studebakers (have a ride!). The estate’s art shop gallery houses works by Finnish artists and artisans (paintings, graphics, ceramics, glass, wood, etc.).
The region of South Savo is rich in unique monuments of nature and culture. Olavinlinna castle, located in the town of Savonlinna, 40 km of Putikon Hovi, is known as the northernmost medieval castle in Europe. The world biggest wooden church of Kerimyaki is 35 km off, and the Retretti Contemporary Art Museum installed on underground rock caves is just 15 km of Putiko. There are also Lusto Forest Museum and Science Center (10 km), and the amazing moraine ridge of Punkaharju (7 km). The lovers of ecotourism will be able to enjoy exploring the Punkaharju Nature Reserve Trails.

Putikon Hovi is charming in all seasons. Fall – September, October, November – is the time of multicolored forests, leaf falls, mushrooms, berries, morning chills and first snow.
Winter – December, January, February, March – is ideal for skating, mountain skiing, Finnish sledge riding, walking in the forest on snowshoes, taking steam bath with subsequent diving in an ice-hole or snow.
Spring – April, May – thawing snow, streams, first flowers, birdsongs, blossoming of apple trees, jasmine and siren in our garden.
And, of course, enchanting Scandinavian summer.
Choosing Putikon Hovi, you choose the first and by far the only estate in Northern Europe that received the Ecolabel of Nordic Swan (in 2010). It is here that you can experience a real ecological way of life, including pristinely clean air and water, natural food, “clever” energy and water consumption, ecologically certified bed linens and household products. Come to us and discover the world of nature, which will fill you with energy, aspiration and unforgettable impressions.
